Steelwork

I am not a fully qualified structural engineer but I have a thorough understanding of BS EN 1990 and its associated standards. Using various computer programs I can design all forms of structural steelwork from conveyor supports through to major frames and buildings. I can also check these for wind and snow loading if required.
If you need the security of a fully qualified engineer I can arrange for the steel designs to be checked later. This is less costly than having the qualified engineer produce the whole steel design.
Many designers fit their plant into a building and worry about the support and access later. This approach is not ideal as it can lead to costly plant changes when the steel is laid in later. more complicated structures are often then needed to get around the existing equipment.
My approach is to design the steel supports and access alongside the main design, producing a fully integrated system that will not need major changes at a later date.

Bins and hoppers.

Bins and hoppers of all kinds are an integral part of material  handling systems. From a half Tonne buffer bin to a 20 Tonne silo, all bins need careful design considerations.
Can you get the material out of the bin without rat holing, bridging or other problems?
Is the bin strong enough? Badly designed bins split or bulge, especially square ones.
Do you need the bin to be on load cells, or have other volume controls?
Over the years I have developed computer programs to help with bin design. This allows me to design square or round bins with confidence, knowing they will be strong enough for the forces involved, yet cost effective. If the bin needs load cells then I can design it and its support steel to provide an integrated solution that will provide the best control possible.
